Proctor script
Before each session, a proctor will go through a series of instructions and steps. It might be helpful for you to review these in advance so you know of all steps.
Roles
Proctor 1:
- Responsibility: Checking students in; and seated at the proctor desk
Proctor 2:
- Responsibility: Crowd Control; roaming and ensuring student belongings are on the shelves
-10 mins to start time:
Proctor 1:
- Log in to proctor computer and get ready for check-ins
Proctor 2:
- “Students, please make sure you put away all your belongings BEFORE checking in! Make sure you put your phones in the sleeve hanging on the shelves, your phones CANNOT be in your backpacks.”
- “Keep your voices down, exams are still in progress.”
-5 mins to start time:
Proctor 2:
- “Your test will start in about 5 minutes. The login information for the computer is posted around the room.”
- “Once you’re logged in, there’s a link on your desktop to PrairieTest. Please raise your hand if you’re having issues logging in.”
-2 mins to start time: IMPORTANT
Proctor 2:
- “Your test will start in about 2 minutes.”
- “This is a reminder to put all personal items in your bag or jacket at the front of the room, or on my desk. This includes headphones, smartwatches, and calculators. Phones must be in the sleeve hanging on the shelves. We will have to report you if a phone or headphones are found near your desk or on your person, even if you are not using it.”
Before starting the test:
Proctor 2:
- “Your test is about to start. There is scratch paper at the front of the room if you need it, you may ask for more at any point during the test. You may use the calculator that is linked from the desktop. If you need help finding it, please raise your hand.”
Proctor 2:
- “Is everybody logged in? Raise your hand if you need help logging in!”
- “Going once, going twice, Done.”
- “Good luck, you may now begin!”
Proctor 1:
- Start Exam.
- Try to start the exam at X:02 at the LATEST, even if people show up at the last second (they need to show up early)!
Throughout the session
- Both proctors must be circulating through the room at all times

As the exam ends: IMPORTANT
- “Remember to please turn in your scrap paper at the Proctor’s desk. Leaving with your paper is considered academic misconduct.”
- “Please also return pencils, and don’t forget to pick up your belongings.”
Important Notes
- Students are allowed non-digital earplugs. If you forgot to bring some, we can give you a pair.
- Students are allowed wired earbuds to plug in to the CBTF computers.
- CFA students are permitted headphones as part of their accommodations.
- We have cleaning wipes available if you want to wipe your keyboard and mice while you wait for your exam to start.
